We currently support 98 children who are either blind or living with albinism. These children face unique challenges—especially in accessing quality education.
For many children with albinism and blindness, attending school is not guaranteed. They are often left behind due to low vision, a lack of assistive devices, and societal misconceptions. In some cases, siblings without albinism are prioritized, while children with albinism are wrongly assumed to be less capable.
It is important to clarify that albinism is not associated with any cognitive or learning disabilities. With the right support and tools to manage their visual impairment, children with albinism can excel academically just like any other student.
Albinism is a rare genetic condition that affects the body’s production of melanin, the pigment that colors the skin, hair, and eyes. This leads to several challenges:
Not all children with albinism have the same level of visual acuity, and their ability to use their remaining vision varies. Each child must be supported based on their individual needs, abilities, and skill levels.
Teachers play a critical role in helping children with albinism and blindness grow, learn, and reach their full potential. To support their education, we urgently need the following equipment:
If the Spirit of Christ leads you to help, we will be truly grateful. Your compassion can restore dignity and opportunity to these precious lives.
Your generosity can help provide food, shelter, education, and healthcare to vulnerable children, youth, and families affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty. Join us in making a difference!
